Morro de São Paulo is a lovely village some 30 nautical miles south of Salvador. It’s the closest thing to a Mediterranean island village you can find in Brazil. No cars are allowed and it’s streets and beaches are fabulous. It may be overcrowded in summer, we were lucky to be there off season.
Morro has 5 beaches called Primeira Praia, Segunda Praia, Terceira Praia etc. One day we managed to drop the anchor in front of the Terceira Praia even if according to the chart it was impossible. We found a passage through the reef used by the local powerboat. Spectacular!
Morro is definitely worth visiting if you are in Salvador. We sailed back and forth several times and we had a lot of fun.
